A reciprocating compressor is a positive displacement compressor that uses a piston to compress air and deliver it at high pressure. The overall design of a piston compressor is similar to an internal combustion engine. A central crankshaft will drive the pistons, this is powered by a motor. As the piston is drawn backwards, gas enters the compressor through the intake valve. The gas is then injected into the cylinders of the pistons and the reciprocating action of the piston compresses the air.

The piston and guide rings are made from high-quality materials, with a central guide ring and piston rings above and below for an effective, low-wear seal, eliminating reverse flow losses. The IP55 electric motor has a low rotational speed of 1000 rpm. There are no separate components.
