Stauder Brewery: Reliable Oil-Free Water-injected Compressed Air

Summary: Traditional brewing supported by reliable compressed air

Privatbrauerei Jacob Stauder has been brewing beer in Essen since 1867. Today, compressed air supports numerous processes throughout production, including valve control, pneumatic drives, filling, packaging, measurement, automation, cleaning and maintenance. For sensitive applications, Stauder uses two CompAir D75 HRS oil-free water-injected compressors and one D22 HRS to provide oil-free water-injected compressed air. A CompAir SmartAir Master coordinates the three compressors, automatically adjusting their operation to match current compressed air demand. At the same time, the system configuration provides redundancy for production processes that depend on a reliable compressed air supply.

Key Highlights

Clean Air for Sensitive Processes

Oil-free water-injected compressed air compressed air supports sensitive applications in filling and production where compressed air quality and hygiene are critical.

Demand-Based Control

CompAir SmartAir Master coordinates the three compressors, automatically adjusting their operation to match current compressed air demand.

Redundant Compressed Air Supply

The compressor configuration provides additional supply security for production processes that depend on compressed air.

Proven Reliability

After around six years of operation, Stauder highlights the reliability and high availability of the machines.

The Challenge

Compressed air plays an important role throughout Stauder's production. It controls and actuates valves, supplies pneumatic drives and supports filling and packaging systems, measurement, control and automation equipment, as well as cleaning and maintenance. A failure in the compressed air supply can therefore bring equipment to a standstill.

For applications where compressed air can come into direct or indirect contact with the product, Stauder's requirements are particularly stringent. The air must be free from oil, water and contaminants and meet the brewery's hygiene requirements.

The CompAir Solution

Stauder uses two CompAir D75 HRS oil-free water-injected compressors and one CompAir D22 HRS to supply oil-free water-injected compressed air for sensitive brewery applications. The three compressors are coordinated by a CompAir SmartAir Master, automatically adjusting their operation to match current compressed air demand. At the same time, the configuration provides redundancy for production processes that depend on a reliable compressed air supply.

For other applications, Stauder uses oil-lubricated compressors, allowing the brewery to apply the appropriate compressor technology according to individual process requirements.
